Veteran actor and Trinamool Congress MP Mithun Chakraborty on Tuesday surrendered Rs 1.2 crore to Enforcement Directorate (ED). The sum is the remuneration he acknowledged to be the brand ambassador of Saradha Group.

Mithun Chakraborty’s legal advisors and couple of agents came to ED’s Office at Salt Lake in Kolkata to hand more than a Demand Draft of the said add up to the officer who is examining the Saradha Scam test case.

When he was addressed by ED in May this year, Mithun Chakraborty said he has no part in the scam yet simply advanced the Saradha Group as a brand ambassador and he even guaranteed to give back the bundle he got for doing his job. The actor turned-politician even submitted CDs and DVDs containing materials of his special battle for the Saradha Group.

After the Saradha Group chit-scam became visible, CBI and ED ventured vigorously to send few ministers of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee’s bureau behind the bars for charged inclusion in the vast scale extortion. Speculators in West Bengal, Odisha and Assam have been duped by the Saradha Group.
