A large number number of advocates boycotted the court proceedings on Monday protesting the allocation of AP-origin judges to Telangana judicial cadre.
The protesting lawyers sought recall of provincial list of judicial officers allotted to Telangana and AP, and also bifurcation of High Court. While the court rooms bore empty look, there were several deputy registrars posted at the entry gates to identify regular lawyers, and a huge contingent of police were deployed to prevent protesting lawyers, a large number of them who came from the districts to enter the high court premises. The Charminar police took 236 advocates into custody until later in the day.
During the first court proceedings in the morning, Gandra Mohan Rao, President, T High Court Advocates requested the acting CJ Dilip B Bhosale to allow advocates to enforce the boycott call. The boycott o all courts will continue till June 17.
