ATA President-elect Karunakar Asireddy felicitated

Simplicity, empathy, passion for community service, friendliness and impeccable character are very few words that can describe Karunakar Asireddy who was felicitated by members of several community organizations in Atlanta on the pleasant evening of Friday, 24th April 2015 at Taste of India Banquet Hall, Alpharetta on being elected as President of ATA for 2017-19. The event was put together by ATA Atlanta Team Kiran Reddy Pasham(ATA Trustee) , Anil Boddireddy(RD,SE), Nanda Chatla(RC), Venkat Veeraneni(RC), Standing committee Chairs Raghu Reddy Banda, Prasheel, Venu Pisike, Vikram Sudini, Venkat Gottam, Arun Katpally, Sai Gorrepati and active volunteers Umesh Muthyala, Sridhar Thirupathi, Siva, Laxmi Naramreddy, Rama Chari.

Madhu Bommineni ATA Secretary came over all the way from Raleigh, NC and Bhoovanesh Boojala Chair Foundation Trust Flew from Washington DC to greet Karunakar. Both congratulated and wished him success.

Karunakar is a true friend of everyone in Atlanta Indian Community. His friends range from ordinary people to the most influential leaders from across the country. KVGL0323For over 20 years Karunakar has served the community in various capacities. One of the notable events lead by Karunakar was the National Convention of American Telugu Association (ATA) in the year 2012, which was by far the most successful event held in the Atlanta history by attendance and the way it was received by attendees.

Leaders and prominent people from several Community Organizations poured in by 8 pm to give a surprise and later a tribute to Karunakar who arrived around 8:30 pm along with his wife Prashanthi. Don’t ask us if they were surprised… they appeared so.

KVGL0531 If there one person who made extraordinary influence on Telugu people in Atlanta Area and the entire country that is Karunakar Asireddy. This message was unanimously expressed by several people in various different words when they were asked to say a few words about him. Jaganmohan Rao was the first person to speak and the briefest too. He said, “I wish Karunakar and ATA Good Luck”. Those words means a lot! Other people who spoke on the occasion were Dr. Mangaraju Vanapalli, Sheela Lingam, Dr BK Mohan, Dr Sujatha Reddy and Mohan reddy and team representing Hindu temple of Atlanta, Anjaiah Lavu Chowdary and team from TANA, Srini Vangimalla, Kiran Kandula and Ravi Kandimalla Representing NATA, Girish Meka and Team from GATA , Vinay Maddineni and Team from TAMA , Venkat Veeraneni and Team from GATeS , Vivek Reddy, Viju Chiluveru, Directors of GATeS Venkat Chennubhotla of Amruthavarshini, Chand Akkinenei representing IACA, Bala Indurti, KVGL0240Gowtham Goli, Ratnaker Eluganti and several prominent Indian Community leaders. Ravi Ponangi, the noted journalist of Indian Community, praised Prashanthi Asireddy, wife of Kurunakar by saying the age-old adage “Behind the success of every man there is woman”. By the way, Prashanti is the current Vice President at the Hindu Temple of Atlanta. She is also the current Director of GATeS Board and an active volunteer of their events.

 

The event was kicked off around 7:30 pm with live music by Srivalli Kondur and Srinivas Durgam. Janardhan Pannela sang a song dedicated to Karunakar. All the organizations have felicitated Karunakar with Plaques,bouquets, shawls, greeting cards and more importantly hugs!
