Bathukamma Celebrations held in Fresno (Central Valley) California by
Telangana American Telugu Association (T.A.T.A)
Telangana American Telugu Association (T.A.T.A.), California, celebrated Bathukamma, a festival of flowers, in Fresno, CA. Over 500 members and families from various parts of California attended the festivities. This event was extra special as T.A.T.A’s woman president hails from California. The festivity brought diverse crowds together with Bathukamma made with colorful flowers were arranged and brought to the festival. Being women festival, there was lots of enthusiasm by the women members and they were seen mingling with joy and happiness.
Although originated in Telangana the Bathukamma festival is celebrated these days with pomp and gaiety by thousands each year. Jhansi Reddy the first woman president of a national Telugu organization took the initiative and ensured the festival is held in a grandeur manner in California. She was seen socializing jovially with other members. There was a mystic ambience that reminded people of their roots. The weather surely lent its credence and it was a memorable day.
Jhansi Reddy addressed the gathering and mentioned that T.A.T.A is formed with the aim of helping NRI Telanganites across North America. She felt glad to be holding the highest office and thanked Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy, Chair Advisory Council of T.A.T.A for his continued support, and went out to thank the board and committee members of T.A.T.A. She invited all to the maiden T.A.T.A convention happening in July 2017, and promised a fun filling experience at the Santa Clara convention. With traditional songs and a resemblance of nativity the event was a sure success.
