Five members accused in the Class 12 examination scam in Bihar were taken into judicial custody, and presented in Patna Civil Court by the Special Investigation Team.
Viseshwar Prasad Yadav, the principal-cum-centre superintendent of Government Boys High School Rajendra Nagar, Patna, Sanjiv Kumar Suman, a mathematics teacher of the school; Shambhu Nath Das, section officer and Ranjit Kumar Mishra, assistant at the confidential wing of the Inter Council; and Shail Kumari, principal-cum-centre superintendent of GA Inter College, Hajipur were arrested even as former Bihar School Examination Board Chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and Bachcha Rai, director-cum-principal of VR College in Vaishali district are absconding.
The initial reports suggest that the answer sheets of the students had been tampered with. The government seems to be strict on getting to the bottom of the issue that had created quite an embarrassing situation for the state Education department.
Cases have also been registered against students whose performance was found to be unsatisfactory in the second exam held for toppers.
