The results for 27 Rajyasabha seats in seven states have been declared today, and as was expected BJP party was found to be leading. The polling process that started in the morning ended by 4pm. In fact the there was no contest in 3- seats and that left the 27 seats for which elections were conducted during the day.
The polling happened for 11 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 4 in Karnataka, 3 in Madhya Pradesh 3 in Rajasthan and 1 in Uttarakhad and 2 in Jharkhand.
In Rajasthan, BJP held sway as the party won 4 seats including one for Minister Venkaiah Naidu. Pradeep Tanta won from Uttarakhand, BJP’s MJ Akbar and Anil Madha were among the three BJP candidates who won the election from Madhya Pradesh. In Karnataka from the four seats, 3 are won by the Congress, while Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitaraman won it for BJP. Jairam Ramesh, Oscar Fernandez and KC Ram Murthy are the Congress leaders who won from Karnataka.
