The issue of fast by Mudragada Padmanabham demanding reservation for Kapus and the ensuing politics of the government by maintaining a strategic secrecy, by not allowing any one to meet the Kapu leader has created much ire amongst opposition party leaders, and this time it is not YSRCP, but Congress. Even when Botsa Satyanarayana maintained that this is not the time to gain political mileage, the Congress party rose up to the occasion. Senior Kapu leader and former Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao, Chiranjeevi, Botsa Satyanarayana, C Ramachandraiah, Ambati Rambabu, GSRao and Thota Chandrasekhar met at former Union Minister Pallam Raju’s residence on Friday. They collectively held chief minister Chandrababu Naidu responsible and accused the Andhra Pradesh Government of double standards.
They felt that instead of empathizing with the struggle TDP ministers made sarcastic comments on the fast, and it is an insult to the Kapu community. In a separate press conference on Friday, Congress party leader Satyanarayana said, “The officials and ministers are giving contradictory statements which are causing concern. We demand that the government should not make it a prestige issue but should try to solve the imbroglio amicably.’
He further said that by not allowing any one to see the fasting leader, it is only causing concern about his condition amongst the people. “We condemn the dual standards of the government on the issue and demand that the social issue should be solved cordially,’ he said.
The issue brought the Kapu leaders, especially Dasari and Chiranjeevi between whom there is no love lost, together for a change.
