Taking ‘Make in India’ to a new level is Hyderabad-based Electronics Corporation of India Ltd, (ECIL) that is on the threshold of going in for a field trial of the airborne radar that it developed – the radar can navigate a missile till it hits the target. ECIL’s technological development is a result of the focus on critical technology solutions in the areas of national importance, especially defence.
According to Chairman and Managing Director, ECIL, P Sudhakar, very few countries have such radar technology. He further added that the tests conducted so far have been very successful; ECIL will be mounting the radar on a military aircraft sometime next month before it can be finally attached to a missile.
It was in November, last year that ECIl had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Space Application Centre in Ahmedabad and has been building several earth station antenna systems for communication, tracking telemetry, command and montoring for both low earth orbit (LEO) satellites and geo-stationary satellites.
