Father Time

As I was driving to work on a cloudy day
lost in thought on what should have and couldn’t
My eyes chanced on an old man on his way
with nary a care and a merry jaunt

As I eyed him curiously on my rear view
what struck me was his confidence and gait
the crevices on the path did not lead him askew
nor the muddy puddles that lay to bait

He walked as if it matters
but worried not on the path in his purpose
the smile that sprang from him utters
a message that loudly within me arose

As I watched Father time
amble along with a glow on his brow
It dawned on me that what matters
is not why or how, but all that is now
