Even as government has ordered the shifting of Andhra Pradesh government staff to Amaravathi by month ending, an official road map will be released on June 8. Without a clear plan, the staff was subjected to stress and confusion, and on their demand chief secretary Satya Prakash Tucker had told all the departments to come up with their own plan.
While there is no going back on the shifting, the government decided to extend the date of shifting to August in view of getting better clarity. The Chief Secretary reconfirmed that the Secretariat will be ready by month end and shifting will be done as per chief minister’s orders. As per the new plan the department heads need to report as per the original schedule of June 27th, however employees of 32 departments will be given 2-3 months time to relocate their residence. Employees whose retirement is due in a year or two will not be forced to relocate. Necessary steps are being taken to bring clarity on the nativity issue for engineering and medical students. The employees wanted clarity on additional seats for their children in educational institutions too.
A help desk will be set up at state secretariat in Hyderabad where employees can represent their case with evidence, especially in cases of chronic illness to employees or kin.
