IACA recently celebrated the 67th republic day of India with great pomp and fanfare. The newly elected IACA’s executive committee led by the effervescent President Rina Gupta put a patriotic fervor in the air from the outset and never let go. The afternoon started with some inspiring music from Desi Rhythms of Atlanta which got the crowd all excited before President Gupta formally welcomed the audience of over 300 patrons as well as the Consul General of India in Atlanta, Mr. Nagesh Singh and his entire team. In her address, President Gupta urged IACA members to draw inspiration from India’s journey towards its own destiny and use it to shape IACA’s destiny with their own hands.
Mr. Nagesh Singh appealed to the Indian community at large to involve themselves in the American mainstream and make their presence known as a strong community. He further urged the attendees to get together under a single umbrella organization like IACA and project an image of unified India devoid of regional fragmentation. After hoisting the Indian flag and rendering both national anthems, the event was taken over by cultural performances orchestrated by Vice President Geetanjali Talukdar, followed by more live music and singing
by Desi Rhythms of Atlanta. The final chapter of the action-packed afternoon was co-ordinated by executive Vice President Mr. Chaitanya Bhatt was a scrumptious lunch graciously provided by Shakti Mandir, Sanatan Mandir and Swaminarayan temple.
