Scoring 307 in the first innings, India won the toss and chose to bat. With Shikar Dhawan scoring a glimmering century which was decently upheld by Ajinkya Rahane’s huge knock of 79,India brought in a lot of trouble for the South African bowlers.
Pursuing the aggregate, South Africa continued losing wickets right when F du Plessis and A B De Villiers appeared to be settling down for huge thumps. Vanquishing South Africa without precedent for a World Cup competition, India broke the curse with a blast.
R Ashwin’s super spell of 3-41 supported by Mohammed Shami and MM Sharma succeeded in sending the South African batsman once again to wrinkle. South Africa was all out for 177 in 40.2 overs.
