Swathi was stalked by an engineering graduate, 22-year-old Ram Kumar. He used to stay near Swathi’s home. She was aware of the stalker but did not think much about him and chose to ignore. He followed her last Friday to Nungambakkam railway station with a sickle in his bag. He confronted her, spoke to her for a while and then hacked the poor girl to death. None of the passersby helped her or people at the railway station; she lay there dead and unattended for 2 hours at the railway station.

On finding that the police are looking for him, the culprit reportedly cut his throat with a sharp object and sustained 60% injuries and was rushed to a hospital.
