Rajinikanth’s movie, ‘Kabali’ directed by young director Pa Ranjith has been in the news from day one. And the euphoria which has been on an upward trend has gone to feverish pitch with the release slated just a couple of days ahead. So much is the hype that people refused to be tempted by the online version that was allegedly leaked, and fans have booked tickets much in advance for the first day, preferably first show. Of course, the producer Kalaipuli S rubbished the rumours as baseless, and said they are nothing but rumours circulated for fun.
Chennai apparently has donned a festive look with excitement in air, with posters of Kabali filling the walls and theatres decked up to the hilt to welcome Thalaiva’s movie. While several fans had applied for leave, a few offices chose to give a holiday on Friday to enable the employees to catch their favourite actor’s film on the first day of the release in Chennai and Bengaluru. Hyderabad too is experiencing its share of euphoria with tickets getting booked in a jiffy for the Friday shows. Air Asia’s special Kabali branded flight is taking fans from across South India to Bengaluru, and airlifting them to Chennai on Friday to catch Rajini’s Kabali – first day first show.
In the film Rajini plays a don who fights for equal rights for Tamils in Malaysia. Award winning Hindi actor Radhika Apte plays the female lead. In addition to the excitement of ‘Kabali’ being a Rajini film – the fact that he chose to work with a young albeit talented director is adding to the curiosity.
