We have heard of cricketers and film stars getting an accidental peck or a hug by their fans.
Here was a politician and chief minister who got an impulsive peck by a woman much to his embarrassment. It was a programme to felicitate newly elected members of zilla panchayats and taluk panchayats, organised by the Karnataka Pradesha Kuruba Sangha at palace grounds in Bengaluru.
One lady Girija Srinivas , who was standing next to Chief Minister for a group photo, was overcome with joy and quickly gave a peck on chief minister Siddaramaiah’s cheek. She is Tarikere Taluk Panchayat member from Amruthapura in Chikmagalur district, and she revealed to a television channel that she was happy that the Chief Minister was also a Kuruba, and called him a “lion of the community”. “I was overjoyed by the fact that I was standing next to him. My family and I have always called him Appaji (father).” Later the visible embarrassed CM said, “that girl is like my daughter.”
