Even as the interrogation is on over a 50 crore corruption case, senior bureaucrat and chief secretary for Arvind Kejriwal government in New Delhi CBI arrested Rajendra Kumar today. The arrest was made despite Rajendra Kumar fully co-operating with the investigative agency, and responding to all summons, and posing no threat what so ever to any witnesses the CBI may have; according to every rule in the book, the arrest was the least of the possibilities in the entire investigative procedures.
In fact, the last it was known of CBI, was yet to garner enough evidence against the chief secretary to warrant an arrest. However one wonders if CBI did discover a few truths that have led to the arrest of the senior officer in New Delhi, failing which, it can lead to yet another set of allegations and counter allegations between the Kejriwal-led Delhi and the central power led by Narendra Modi. The arrest, unless CBI provides enough proof, can turn out to be an ugly controversy and the Central Bureau of Investigation will have many questions to answer later.
Sources reveal that CBI had filed an FIR claiming there was some wrong doing during awarding contracts between 2006 and 2014 worth Rs 9.5 crore, but investigations point to irregularities in contracts worth Rs 50 crore. This happened when Shiela Dikshit was the CM of Delhi.
