AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has begun the process of giving alternate land to farmers who contributed their land to construction of the capital city Amaravathi.
He spearheaded the programme from Tulluru, and gave away land to Nellapaadu village farmers. Speaking at the event CM Naidu called the division of the state done with political motive by the Congress, and said he chose the area for capital city keeping in view the proximity to the entire new state of Andhra Pradesh. He expressed his happiness that the farmers have not been swayed by opposition and contributed 33 thousand acres to the making of Amaravathi.
The farmers in Nelapadu of Tulluru were allotted land through lottery system. A total of 847 farmers were given away 1,916 plots out of which 1,167 are housing plots while 796 are commercial plots. While the CM is diligently giving land as was promised, it would have been in the interest of the state if he gave alternate solution to all the fertile agricultural land lost to the new capital city.
