The entire city was lighted up, but without any concept or purpose, front page advertisements were released across all news papers and across editions in national news papers, and it was K Chandrasekhar Rao greeting India on June 2 morning from the newspapers. Across Hyderabad and Telangana meetings were held and cultural programs were arranged on a large scale. Not one state-level auditorium was left out, there was festivities across Hyderabad.
While the common man in the city was out on roads enjoying the revelry, tongues started wagging at the exorbitant amounts spent for no purpose beyong publicity of TRS part.
Telangana Congress Incharge Digvijay Singh too wondered aloud on how the chief minister in the face of drought and farmers suicides is spending such huge amount of money for celebrations. “I never saw such an expensive state formation day celebrations in any state in my whole 40 year political career,” Digvijaya had said. “In two years of TRS rule, only KCR and his family members were benefitted, leaving many farmers committing suicides, youth struggling to get jobs and common man burdened with sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities,” he added.
