The 63rd Filmfare Award South was held in Hyderabad. One of the oldest awards being given in Indian cinema, Filmfare has retained the brand name though aggressive marketing does dilute the excitement.
Telugu film Baahubali bagged six awards – for best film, best director for Rajamouli, best cinematographer for Senthil, best supporting actor (Female) for Ramya Krishna, best playback singer (female) for Geeta Madhuri (Jeevanadi) and the critic’s award for the best film.
Mahesh Babu won the bestactor (male) award for the film Srimanthudu’. Anushka won the best actor (female) for her role in Rudramadevi’.
The life Time Achievement award was given to Manchu Mohan Babu who has acted in varied roles in 570 films through his illustrious career. He received the award from Dasari Narayana Rao.
The awards for the best debut actor (male and female) went to Akhil (for the film Akhil) and Pragya Jaiswal (for Kanche).
