Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s visit was much awaited, especially by Malkajgiri MPMalla Reddy and Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatrya. They were hoping that the defense minister will look into the long standing problem of allowing civilians through the army cantonment area in Malkajgiri constituency creating major inconvenience to a majority of population. However Parriker refused to comment on the region without visiting the area, properly appraising of the situation and speaking to the officials.

Speaking at Hyderabad he said that security scenario in the country is changing and even a handful of people can create terror and hacov. He reminded of the Pathankot attack, and the Gurdaspur event. How many people came whenever there is a fight between terrorists and security forces, probably three, four, five or six… So it is not the number.

He inaugurated the cantonement general hospital in Secunderabad which was constructed at an expenditure of Rs5.17 crore.  Bandaru Dattatreya and Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao were among those who spoke at the meeting.
