The race to develop as India’s official entry for the Oscars has gathered steam, with 30 hits from different states, joining the quarrel.
Aamir Khan’s PK, SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali, Mahesh Babu’s Srimanthudu, Amitabh-Deepika’s Piku, Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Shahid Kapoor’s Haider films are shortlisted. Committee Members will have to complete watching all the films by September 24th.
As indicated by sources, the Telugu film “Srimanthudu” featuring Mahesh Babu. Sources said a few other local language movies have also sent in their selections. This is the first occasion when that such a major number of movies have entered the brawl. Presently a 18-members committee that has been constituted with Amol Palekar as director to choose India’s assignment, will begin watching the movies in Hyderabad from September 17.
Among another movies, competing to be chosen is “Haider” coordinated by Vishal Bharadwaj featuring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. ” The board of trustees, on the other hand, will observe every one of the movies and choose a specific film taking into account diverse criteria,” an official source said.
The two major movies in the rundown – “Bahubali” and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ – the author is the same. Telugu film writer Vijayendra Prasad had written the story for both the movies. The 88th Academy Awards function is slated to be hung on February 28, 2016.
