Pensions at doorstep from April 1

Moved by the situation of retired people in acquiring their benefits, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has chosen to make things helpful for them by starting installment of monthly pensions at the doorsteps of recipients from April 1, in the city.

Under a pilot extend, the city has been recognized by the State Government for dispensing of Social Security benefits at the doorstep of qualified recipients under the NTR Bharosa Scheme.

The detriment confronted by retired people in getting pensions hit the features in the city as of late, after three recipients passed on while holding up for their turn at the annuity circulation focuses and post offices in December last. Endeavors were being made to open zero parity ledgers for 18,470 retired people, said VMC Commissioner G. Veerapandian at a meeting with VMC authorities here on Tuesday.

Bank journalists will be going by the retired people’s homes and store the sum in their records and encouraging them to withdraw the cash through ATMs. Talks were additionally on with banks in as far as possible to present the plan viably, he clarified.
