Police in Khammam district of Telangana has enlisted a case under the SC/ST Atrocities Act against previous Union Minister Renuka Chowdhury taking after an objection that she supposedly took Rs. 1.10 crore by promising a Congress meeting ticket to a local leader in front of races in 2014 and misused his wife when she looked for return of the cash.
The case was registered after a followed by the High Court in Hyderabad on the complaint by B. Kalavati who charged that Ms. Chowdhury took the money from her husband Ramji for getting the Party ticket to challenge from Wyra Assembly body Constitutions in Khammam district, according to Khammam circle Inspector Sridhar. Ramji has since passed on.
The complainant alleged that Ms. Chowdhury abused her by her station when the cash was tried to be returned, he said.
The case was registered after the court tried to comprehend what action has been made, Mr. Sridhar said, including that charges of cheating were additionally there.
The matter would be invistigated now taking after the registration of the case, he said.
“This is totally baseless, unverified and politically motivated. I have never met this lady in my life. I can swear by that. Such un expected things happen in politics,” Ms. Chowdhury said.
