Rickshaw workers dharna for pension

Members of the Visakha City Rickshaw Karmika Sangham arranged a dharna at the Collectorate here on Monday requesting annuity. “There are almost 8,000 rickshaw specialists in the city. With the coming of auto-rickshaws, they are not able to satisfy their essential needs,” Sangham president K Satyaramanjaneya said.

He requested that the government give annuities to rickshaw laborers over 60 years old,medical treatment, identity cards for all the specialists and ex-gratia for the groups of the laborers who kicked the bucket amid the violent wind. Later, they submitted an update to District Collector N Yuvaraj.
