Ruby Rai, the class 12 student who was the controversial topper in Bihar Internediate exams was arrested in Patna.
She had raised suspicion when she pronounced political science as prodikal science and said that the subject deals with cooking during her interview to a TV channel. Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said that she was arrested as she emerged from a re-test of Bihar School Examination Board. Earlier the Patna court issued a non-bailable against four toppers including Ruby in the exam racket. Ruby skipped two summons before appearing at BSEB office on Saturday to face re test and interview.
During questioning the private assistant (PA) of former BSEB chairman Lalkeshwar Singh revealed that Rs 15 lakh was charged for declaring toppers through dubious means. The PA, further revealed that a sum of Rs 10 lakh was charged from a failed student to give them pass certificates. Singh, his former JD(U) MLA wife Usha Sinha, Vishun Roy college secretary-cum principal Bachha Rai and nearly a dozen others have been arrested in the degree racket case.
