Who would have thought that a young lady from Haryana will topple the world’s top wrestling champions at Olympics Aggressive and tenacious, and winner of Silver medal at Common Wealth Games, India’s Sakshi Malik was doing pretty well and came across as a worthy contender for Gold until she lost 2-9 to Russia’s Valeria Koblova in the women’s Freestyle 58kg category quarter-final at the Rio Olympics on Wednesday. However, she was still in contention for bronze via Repechage after Valeria made it to finals.
And finally today, she makes it. Sakshi Malik from Haryana gets the first medal to India as she wins a Bronze beating Aisuluu Tynybekova in an astonishing bout and leading with 8-5.
