This is happening not once, twice, but for the third time when Shah Rukh Khan was detained by the US authorities at Los Angeles International Airport. In fact the US ambassador to India had apologized and said they (read US) are working to ensure this does not happen again.
In fact he was detained twice before – once in 2009 when he was held up for two hours at Newark airport and second time when he was detained for 90 minutes at White Plains Airport near New Yor.
In fact he had also commented in jest – Whenever I start feeling too arrogant about myself I take a trip to America. He even made a film ‘My Name s Khan’ where he speaks about the discrimination based upon name. In the movie, he famously says – My Name is Khan and I am not a terrorist.
This time Shah Rukh Khan tweeted – I fully understand & respect security with the way the world is, but to be detained at US immigration every damn time really really, sucks (Sic)
He also tweeted – “The brighter side is while waiting caught some really nice Pokemons (Sic)
Even though Shah Rukh brushes aside the incident with his senseof humour; the whole situation reeks of Islamophobia which has remained in the US society – Trump or no trump.
