In what can be called the most awaited news from the BJP party this week, the cabinet reshuffle resulted in a couple of major changes and several new Ministers of State Appointed. Smriti Irani lost her Ministry of Human Resource and Development to Parkash Javedkar, who was introduced into the ministry. She instead is made the Minister for Textiles.

Venkaiah Naidu from being Parliamentary Affair Minister was changed into Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Former Congress member and RS member MJ Akbar was introduced into Ministry of External Affair as MOS. Communications and Information Technology MinisterRavi Shankar Prasad is given law ministry. Five ministers were dropped and overall 29 ministers took oath at Rashtrapathi Bhawan. The ministers who submitted their resignations include Sanwar Lal Jat (Water Resources), Nihalchand (Panchayati Raj), Ram Shankar Katheria (Human Resources), Mansukh Bhai Vasava (Tribal Affairs) and Mohanbhai Kundaria (Agriculture)

As was speculated earlier the cabinet reshuffle is aimed at UP elections and the five top portfolios Home, Finance, Defence and External Affairs — did not see any change.
