Even as the dry spell continues at Olympics for Indian contingent, no one seems to be complaining. The grit and fight put out by Indian sports men and women is filling the hearts of otherwise not such a great supporter of sports – India. The hopes are alive, but they don’t seem to matter much. Until evening every Indian held a hope deep in their hearts that Indian Badminton champion Kidambi Srikant would somehow will clinch the match that would have made way for him into the semifinal match. However, he went down fighting two-time defending champion from China Lin Dan in the quarter-finals, and what a match it was.
Srikanth didn’t give in easily to his opponent. He put up a great fight, worth all the hopes and expectations of his countrymen. In the first game, it was the Chinese who was dominating from the word go, and Srikanth brave fewo points didn’t take him anywhere and he gave in with 6-21. But the second game was something else. He quickly scored a 3-point lead, took it upto 6 and Srikanth then took over when Dan faltered and ended it with 11-5. Srikanth’s smashes made the opponent struggle. However, he lost the third game and with it the chance to enter semis. Nevermind! Srikanth gave it all his might with his country watching his fight live.
