This time he has gone too far. Subramanian Swamy who is known to shoot off his mouth when ever where ever it pleases him had been at Raghuram Rajan the outgoing RBI governor with hammer and tongs. And his latest remarks on yet another economic functionary appointed by none other than Modi himself as the Chief Economic Adviser, Arvind Subramanian, calling for his sacking through his tweets had to be taken with a pinch of salt by the ruling party. As was expected, the BJP spokesperson was quick to announce that Swamy’s statement has nothing to with the party’s opinion.
Arun Jaitley in a press conference reflected the sentiment, and said, “The government has full confidence in chief economic advisor Mr Subramanian…His suggestions from time to time are of great value…Party has said that we don’t share Mr Swamy’s view…Constraint of their offices prevents some people (the CEA) from responding.”
However Subramanian Swamy in his inimitable style tweeted on Thursday – he will “suspend” his demand for sacking the chief economic adviser if the government considers him patriotic despite his attempts in the past of trying to twist India’s arm.
