To begin with Congress cannot get onto campaigning for Uttar Pradesh election with a Chief Minister candidate in place. That has long since stopped working. And they cannot take chances, especially because they are placing their ace – Priyanka Gandhi who will be the face of Congress on board. It may be because Sheila Dixit has Brahminical connections that are said to have changed the fortunes of candidates in a few electorates in Uttar Pradesh; or may be the fact that with years of experience she may come across as a more reliable leader of the party during the make or break situation – the grand old lady who has seen defeat in the hands of Kejriwal in Delhi has been brought back from Kerala (where she was the Governor) to play active role in the campaigning for UP election to be held next year.
Her political career started with UP when Congress had swept the 1984 elections riding on the ‘Indira wave’. Sheila Dikshit, too won the Kannauj parliamentary seat.
