Mathura violence has shown the ugly face of UP politics where violence has become the order of the day. According to reports the Uttar Pradesh government has ignored almost 40 Intel reports on the Bose cult members hoarding huge number of weapons and also failed to adequate reinforcement to the district administration.
Once Jawahar Nagar park was opened to media, 72 hours after the violence on June 2, it revealed a battle ridden ground and an area that was supposedly a crude bomb making factory. Looking at the stocking up of provisions and materials, it looked like the members of the Swadheen Bharat Subhash Sena expected a war like scenario and a siege that would last for long. The electricity to the park was cut off two months ago, and since then the group was making do with batteries and inverters. There were large supplies of food and unused tents, separate toilets for men and women, a Shiva temple, and vegetables would be sold for locals at cheap prices. Children and youngsters were being trained in the open. The members were being trained in using firearms and in unarmed combat. It looks like there is more to Jawahar Nagar fiasco than meets the eye when we see how such evidence was ignored and no action was taken so far on the cult members, until situation went beyond control.
