Sai Dharma Tej’s first movie ‘Rey’ was indefinitely delayed before it released as his second film and went on to become a hit. His first film – his debut to speak of was also a big hit – Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham followed by ‘Subramanyam For Sale’ and ‘Supreme’. All his films until now can be termed a hit and he was being considered a dependable actor who can deliver a hit. Nephew to Megastar Chiranjeevi, Sai Dharma Tej has been so high on success that the reviews ripping apart his latest film, ‘Thikka’ seemed to have affected him, so much so that he was conspicuous by his absence at the film’s success meet.
The story of ‘Thikka’ goes like this – the hero falls in love with the girl, but the couple has a break up and the hero; Thikka’ that he is, calls for a break up party, during which the main twist in the tale happens. What has worked adversely for the film is the way in which it is written and executed. The story goes haywires from the word go! And, loses its steam along the way. The film fails to hold attention and having a senior and seasoned actor like Rajendra Prasad is a mere waste of effort.
After all it takes a beating or two for an actor to realize that hits are no coincidence. It needs a good story, a well-made film with good entertainment value to make a hit. The sooner, the young actor learns this – the better for him.
