Verdict in English Can't Be CriticisedThe deliverance of judgments in English can’t be ambushed claiming that the charged are not acquainted with the language, the Madras High Court has ruled.

A division Bench of Justices R Sudhakar and PN Prakash gave the decision while releasing a habeas corpus writ appeal testing the order of the lower court delievered in English.

Because the Judicial Officer has interpreted her musings in English and composed the judgment in English, it can’t be held that her whole judgment is void and the confinement of the persons was unlawful.

Verdict in English Can’t Be Criticised

The entire trial was led in Tamil and the blamed were addressed in Tamil under Section 235(2) Cr.PC. on the issue of sentence and the denounced had declined to reply. This had also been recorded verbatim by the educated trial Judge, the Bench said and dismissed the petition.
